Tigershark 10" coil vs 8" coil

I am considering purchasing a Tesoro Tigershark underwater detector, but am undecided as to the 10" coil vs. the 8" coil.
I see the advantages of each as:
10" Greater depth and greater coverage.
8" More accurate pinpointing and easier swinging underwater.
I would appreciate your comments and opinions.

I've read were some users really liked the 10" coil on their Tiger Shark for the extra coverage and a bit more depth on cleaner beaches. Some places we hunt won't be all that clean as far as trash goes and this is where the 8" coil would help with target masking. This is my own personal opinion but I think the 8" coil would be more suited for the majority of detecting sites you would probably encounter.

I have a Tiger Shark with the 10" coil and have no problems pinpointing. The 8" would be better in really trashy spots. That being said in the water at our inland lakes in Ohio and Michigan I have not run into that terrible much trash other then around some places where there was old docks and there were a ton of nails. It is a great machine on smaller gold items. I do not get a chance to hunt the water anymore if you want a nice used one. Email me if you would like. Shortcut1224@yahoo.com

I dont have a tiger, but I do detect the local lakes a lot. I find that most areas are fine with a larger coil. However if I had to pick only one I would take the 8". The most treasure tends to be in the places with the most trash. Where a 8" coil will not cover ground like a 10" but you can still use it. But in the trash the 10" will be overwhelmed much sooner than the 8". Thats just my thoughts. I have started to really lean towards smaller coils.

Having both I find I lean more towards the 8. I hunt trashy beach and water. The small depth advantage of the 10 is not enough for me to be concerned with, as the 8 moves more easily through the water.
It's not that the 10 is unwieldy in the water, however. I think for my hunting style I've just grown more accustomed to the 8.
You cant go wrong with either one. It all will come down to personal preference as dictated by your local conditions.
Cheers

Thanks for all of your advice. I purchased the tigershark with the 8" coil. I live in Buffalo, NY and will have to wait a few months until I get into the water..... JWR
