Tiger Shark

Need some input here!! I have a tiger shark and take it to a local beach (w/ landlocked swimming hole). Works fine...found plenty of change and a few bits of jewelry. However, when I'm in the water I get a lot of "hits" whenever I bump the head or change direction. Now I did just turn the sensitivity "WAY DOWN" (probably wouldn't find Ft Knox if I were standing on it), but I live in S Florida and there is probably 3" of soil before you hit solid coral, and haven't tried it since. Any other ideas to resolve my ghost hits?? Please let me know. Thanks!

Andy sand or dirt in there? Magnetic sand in the coil cover can make the machine act a little goofy.

I THINK I just read on Tesoro website that change of sweep direction may give a slight falsing on a machine that is running hot and is to be considered normal.

I wouldn't turn down sensitivity because a bump triggered a false tone...
Look for solid, repeatable signals.
...may even be something loose in there???

Use velcro strips to secure the cable up the top of the shaft, making sure it cant wiggle, do the winding at the top of the shaft if necessary you might be picking up your own cable movement.... I ran the cable up the top of the shaft all the way off the end and then hook it to a belt mounted control housing... no problems yet, and no falsing... HH Jt
