tiger shark

Options on durability and fresh water performance.

I have had my tiger for about 5 years. It is very durable. I have never had any trouble with it. It is very good in fresh water. I have found many gold and silver rings and a lot of change. The batteries do last a very long time... KEN. Ind.

I have a tiger shark. It will pick up gold that other detectors won't get a good reading on. It is great in fresh water.

Thanks for comments

It is very durable and performs extremely well in fresh water. It is highly senstivie to small gold target (and small junk targets too).

Note that the machine is a bit on the heavy side, like the the Sand Shark.

If you you buy the Fisher chest harness for the CZ and the Tesoro pouch for chest mounting the Sand/Tiger Shark, you will have an excellent setup that will allow you to hunt for hours without any arm fatigue at all. The straps on the Tesoro pouch will fit through the holding strap on the chest harness. Don't try to use loop harness that comes with the Sand/Tiger Shark in combo with the Fisher chest harness as it will not fit. You need the pouch.

Just an FYI.

Okay, I can't stay silent on this one. The Tiger Shark is one great water detector. Maybe there is better but I don't know because I have never used anything else and probably never will. I think it is safe to say that in it's price range there is nothing better. For me it came down to buying a dedicated water detector for the water and dedicated land machines for land use. This was on advice of Sandman and I am glad I listened to him.

Every time I use the Tiger it amazes me at the stuff it finds. Small chains and earrings are no problem for the Tiger. I hunt in disc mode with the disc set around 2-3, but never higher than 3. The only time I get it up near 3 is a few spots with tons of small nails. It is deep in disc. mode and in all metal with a slight threshold hum it is unbelievably deep. In my opinion on land in all metal it is the deepest Tesoro made. My Tejon is a depth monster on land, the Tiger in all metal is mind boggling. Bear in mind in this mode it is a dig all situation on land, probably comparable to a PI.

I have the 10" coil and prefer it for coverage and depth in the water. In the water you are in a dig it all situation if want to be successful. Because of this target separation is not overly important. Despite the larger coil it separates really well.

Pinpointing is dead on and the audio is awesome. To get the goodies in the water you have to scoop trash to get cash. The Tiger loves bottlecaps, but that just comes with the water game. With enough practice you can tell a tab by the audio.

The coil slices through water so smoothly it is almost effortless. Most importantly the coil is not buoyant. The Tiger is perfectly balanced in the water.

It uses 8 AA batteries but they last a long time. My best guess would be 40 hours per set. At three beeps I replace them.

The headphones are great, comfortable enough, and can take a dunking no problem. I say comfortable enough because they comfortable, but not like a good pair of Grey Ghost on a land detector.

Hope this helps. Don't ask to buy mine, it's not for sale!

Never owned the Tigwr Shark but I have a friend that does, and I picked up a Stibgray II last spring and I'm amazed at the things they find. Best vlf on chains no doubt! Small gold, stud earrings, they shine on picking out that stuff. I would say you can't go wrong getting a Tiger Shark, assuming you are hunting fresh water, they will do salt but there is definitely better options for a full time saltwater hunter. But again, I'm impressed with these machines, seeing my friends Tiger Shark and it's results, is why I grabbed the Stingray II when I did and I'm glad I did as they are very close to the same machine.
