Tiger Shark vs Sand Shark

subzero007

New member
Wanting a decent salt water beach machine that will perform in the wet sand.
Have read several good things but which performs the best under these conditions?
Thanks for any replies.
Rick

The Tiger seems to chatter is salt but the sand shark is smooth. I am very happy with the sand shark. There might be some machine out there that preform (a little deeper) but the sand shark is well balanced and fun to swing. It also it good on small stuff. And you can not beat the customer service. Hope this helps,Joe

Have not used Tiger Shark.

Sand Shark works well in the wet salt sand and through the black sand areas too. In addition to the coins and rings, it will hit nuts and bolts like crazy and every hair pin too. The hair pins and nails tend to give a double blip sound. I scooped out a nice silver chain that gave the double blip too.

I use the Sand Shark in the wet salt sand and water area where it generally isn't as trashy and then switch to a VLF type detector in the slightly damp to dry areas where it is usually trashier so I have a good idea of what's iron and what isn't.

I appreciate the input Joe and tvr. Have used a PI machine in the past but wasn't sure if I should spend the
extra money, which I really don't have, on a high priced detector when I don't have to.
Thanks and HH

I use the Tiger Shark in fresh water. Too many mixed reviews about how good it is in saltwater. Might also check out the White's Dual Field. It's getting pretty good reviews and isn't expensive like the Infinium. Jim

As Jim notes, the Dual Field is well spoken of, as are a couple of others.

I was looking at a couple of different PI units when a Sand Shark came up used at a very good price. I figured if I did not like it, I could resell it and do no worse than staying even. That was about 1 1/2 years ago and I still have the Sand Shark.

I'd like to try a Dual Field, an Infinium and a Head Hunter PI. So far I haven't seen a deal that said to me I have to do it.

The Sand Shark does it's job. I will need a very good deal to change it out of the line up ... at least until all the kids are through college. Then the cash flow equation should change a bit and I may be able to go with more toys ... oh, sorry ... I mean tools.
Cheers,
tvr
