Tiger Shark the best fresh water detector?

I am looking at 3 other options. One is the Lobo ST in a small backpack. Can get to chest deep. I've done it before. Wish I had kept my Lobo ST. I'm really leaning toward the LST.

Want to find gold chains too.

Yeah Rick..I'm a gold chain hunter primarily here on the shores of Lake Michigan by MKG if that helps you a bit....I hunt gold rings secondary, but gold in any shape or form for sure, I leave the house every morning on the hunt for a big gold chain though...

AtPro hits gold chains but is only good to 15'...Tiger Shark hits them as well and is good to go deeper, but takes 8 AA's..(I can live with that, if I decide to go subsurface)..and then theres the new DP UW with the 12" NEL...probably set you back a grand, has a rechargable battery system and super light as you probably know, should be one hell of a beachsweeper and chain finder...so thats the thing..whats a gold chain hunter guy to do when hunting for gold chains that most other top shelf rigs rigs dont even see?

I have not made up my mind, I have the AtPro, but am seriously looking at the Shark or the DetectorPro...But I like as many tones as I can get, and neither have those features, except for the Pro although not exactly what I want, but it does have a few tones and hits gold chains....Heres a bit of inspiration regarding gold chains hunted on popular West Mi Beaches....the one with the anchor I got with the F70, the other two with the Pro...

5yrs of toil on the sand and surf mind you, hunting gold chains, miles and miles barefoot with a crappy signal focus....Sorry none of these were found with a Tee rig...this is your forum, but I though I'd share a unique and awful addiction when it comes to gold chains with Rick...Big money in chains if a guy has a rig that can see them..its a fools errand though no matter what rig you run...at least the TigerShark and the others I mentioned will hit them though, a 'Lab or a CZ wont, so thats good for chainhunters like us I guess..:sadwalk:

I would not advise anybody to be a dedicated gold chain hunter...have a look around at your shopping demographic this weekend and see how many you can count wearing a gold chain?...Like one in a thousand people even wear them, so what are the astronomical odds they lost one somewhere you might find it? More money and less headache sniping clad in totlots truth be told...

For freshwater hunting it is a good detector. Is it the best? Well, I can't say because it is all I have used. I will say though, it has worked so well for me it is all I will probably ever use. I could go on and on why I like it so well and have several times before. I have found silver chains, but not a gold one yet. I have found gold rings. If it is there the Tiger will not miss it. The water hunting mindset is a different mindset than turf excavating. Set the disc low to just knock out small metal (nails etc.) and scoop any good sounding tone that sounds clean from two directions. Get use to bottlecaps, they come with the water hunting gig.

I guess having only used the Tiger I can't answer your question, but if there were a better freshwater detector, it would have to be some kind of good to beat the Tiger.

Honestly. I would say for me personally I have found more rings with a Modified Compadre and 9x8 coil stuck inside a set of headphones Like the detectorpro. Then any of the other units I have ran. The lobo by far is a small micro gold jewelry unit anyday. I actually stuffed a lobo st inside a Whites Beach hunter control box before and ran it in the lakes for a while and then parted with it. I still favor the tiger shark and compadre .

Am now working on another water unit installing a silver umax circuitry inside a tigershark control houseing. Mods of ground .volume, sense and thresh.

Shopuld be interesting. lol

Nice finds mudpuppy, didn't know you are in skee town, beer tent capital of the world lol. @ 1 hr.+ S of me. :) Nice finds. I wish more manufacturers would make a waterproof detector similar to the ATPro.
