Tiger Shark Testing

Well the ground has thawed and most of the snow is gone. My test garden is no longer covered in snow. My test garden has pennies, nickels, dimes, and Quarters buried at 2", 4", 6", 8", 10", and 12". Now bear in mind that the test garden is relatively fresh and was only made last November so test results are still not the greatest. The ground right now is really saturated/soaked. I took the Tiger out for a test spin and was surprised at the results. In disc mode with a setting of 1 or slightly less I hit all 4" targets loud and clear. At 6" the penny was still pretty clear and the rest were there, but barely. I switched to Fast All Metal with disc turned down and rechecked. In this mode you get a soft background threshold. All targets from 2-10" were easily distinguishable and the 12" targets were there but not real strong. What a depth monster in All Metal!!! I have the 10.5" coil and yes I did ground balance before testing.

When you put in a test garden it can take years for all mineralization to get molecular re-alignment and the soil matrix to get as normal as undisturbed soil. I know this because when I first got my Silver uMax and tested it in my fresh garden I was ready to wrap it around a tree until somebody on a forum gave me a lesson in soil conditions and disturbed soil. Last year the Silver could only get the 4" coins. Today I was able to get some of the 6" coins, so the test garden is getting better.

It just amazes me though the Tiger in Fast All Metal could find them all!!! Guess what mode I will be hunting in this weekend?

That is good. I never have searched in water much but I have always thought it would be real neat to do so. I saw you replied to my thread over on the surf and beach combing forum. It is going to be a little bit before I get a chance right now to try it out. I really am impressed with the build quality of the units housing. I have never really been a big fan of the style of headphones that are included with these water units but I guess there really is not much of a choice about it since they have to be water proof. I had a whites PI unit once and it had similiar style headphones and they seemed ok. I wanted a unit for water and I am not a fan of the PI style units. Everything I have read about the tiger shark fit my bill and I see alot of positive things about the unit itself. Let us know how it goes for you on your first trip to the watering hole!!! Tim

that is good depth,
