Tiger Shark Slow and Fast

deepsound

New member
Hi, I'm a new user of a Tiger Shark and I'm confused about slow and fast concepts. Can someone explain the difference between slow and fast functions?. Where to use slow and where fast ?Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks un advance.

Hay deepsound,i myself am looking at getting a tiger shark for river hunting,i think the slow fast concept everyone refers to is how quick the detector responds to a Target that the search coil has passed over, some same the tesoros preform better at a faster coil speed than other brand and types,as in motion disc mode, which the coil requires motion to detect a target,in this mode the coil must stay moving. And terms like quick response(A short time period between metal sensing and peak audio/video indicator.)And term slow motion(A description of search coil speed required to operate the motion discriminate mode, hay get back to me and let me know what kind of ground balance feature the tiger shark has.thanks.Chucky.

Here is the scoop on the 'slow and fast' mode on the Tiger Shark. I have had a Tiger Shark ever since they came out with one in 2001, had mine for going on 9 years. The all metal slow is an all metal search mode with a slow threshold retune speed, this is a good mode to pinpoint the target with. The all metal fast is an allmetal search mode with a fast autotune, this mode is best for actual hunting with (though I never use it, prefering the Disc.) because of it's faster threshold retune.

The only time I use the Fast Allmetal mode is when I am ground ballancing the detector. Then after I get a good ground ballance with no fluctuation in the threshold sound using the bobing method, I switch to motion disc. mode and use that mode for the rest of the time. I use the motion disc mode to pinpoint the target, then once I have pinpointed the target, I keep my coil resting motionless in the exact spot that the target is responding to the loudest. Here comes the tricky part, once you have found a good sounding target, keep your coil in that spot over the target. To mark the exact spot, take your left or right foot(whichever is natural for you, whether you are right or left handed) and position your toe up against the back of the searchcoil. Then move the search coil away from your toe, and carefully position your scoop just in front or your toe, step back and dig the target.I don't want to write a book here, but if you have any more questions just PM me.........Hombre

Hombre,

I couldn't have decribed that method any better than you just did. Well said. That is the identical same way I do it. I also pinpoint in disc mode. The Tiger is that good in disc mode !!!!

Thanks Lake Hunter

The Tiger is a dangerous gold hunter, It has helped me nab plenty of goodies! What gets me is how sensitive it is to small gold, and with LOUD and quick responces, The detector is so fast that I have taken it to some old house demolition sites, and with the disc. set at about 4 or 5 it just wades thru the iron junk. One time I took it to an old demo here in town after being told about it by two other detectorists had hit the place hard and found three indian head cents in the nastiest iron laden area of the demo......................Hombre

I totally agree !!! The Tiger is a very dangerous gold hunter. I have had mine for 2 years and have found enough gold to pay for the machine 3 times over. I hunt freshwater and love it. It has a super fast response. I have it on a straight shaft and have 8" and 10.5" coils. I have also found silver dimes on land with it , where there were really great land machines hunting the same place. I have thought of getting rid of it for brand M for the extra depth, but am having my doubts because I don't think they can hit small chains or small gold earrings that have open clasps like the Tigershark.

Ive heard such great things about the tiger that I'm buying it instead of the Excalibur, 90% of my hunting will be fresh water and only about 10% salt water beaches so I figured the price difference for the Excal was just to great. And the more I read on this forum the better I'm felling about my decision.
