Tiger Shark Question

Anyone with any experience with this machine able to offer comments?...Thinking of getting one....have used Excalibur for last 10 years, can anyone make a comparison...thanks for the help

Excal is much better in salt water inviroment.... Tiger Shark is better in freshwater. Tiger will pick up small chains and other very small gold.

You will hear a lot about the sensitivity and threshold being inside the box but once you set them where you wish you will find you rarely have to change it, or thats what i have found with mine. It is great on small items and sensitive to gold. In salt water it falses and you will want to open it to turn down the sensitivity and to run it only in salt mode and disc mode, the excaliber has it beat in salt for sure but in fresh water i've heard many say its the best. I sure enjoy mine!
If you've been using an excaliber you may miss the tones, the Tigershark has one tone, almost a quack ,
although you'll soon learn the slight variances and find it tells you a lot.
Its a bit heavy but comparable to the excaliber on that concern, also it is hipmountable which is nice.
It even makes a decent backup land machine.
They have a habit of falsing when the water hits the connection to the control box, but this is not a serious fault at all and you soon get used to it.
One very real benefit of the Tigershark is the lifetime warranty. Honestly i believe Tesoro backs their warranty to unprecedented levels and goes to every length to remain tops in this department.
The only real fault i find with the tigershark is the turn knob to change from all metal to disc. Its awkward compared to a toggle switch but its understandable as a knob is much more easily waterproofed and kept waterproof. Not a big problem.
Oh, and if you mount the box below the elbow rest the front will not open unless you undo the two closest pins and let the box hang on the rear pegs. Again, not a big deal, i just mention it as a hint.
I find i prefer the box on the lower pegs when hunting water as the weight helps hold the coil down and on the upper pegs when hunting beach or land as it balances better there. Nice to have the choice.
If you have any specific questions please feel free to email me and ask or ask here. There are lots of helpful folks here.
HH whichever way you go.

wonderful info here and all true. If you use your 'Shark, you will soon find that it finds lots of stuff. Much better than if you leave it in the closet or give in to the wifes, "do you gotta bring that thing again?..."

Was looking at old forum posts about Tiger Shark......and saw your reply and I have a few questions, how deep does it go on 10&25 cent coins in salt water and on air test's what do you get for the 10&25 cent coins..also how much trouble is it to adjust the sens. I have a silver umax with the knob on the outside and it's simple to adjust, I just don"t about opening up the case on a sandy beach with all the salt air and wind blowing.....thanks for any input that you may have....HH
