Tiger Shark maiden voyage

Miningtown

New member
Took my "new" Tiger Shark out to the lake today and what a blast. Found lots of loot. 2 rings,4 quarters,1 nickle,1 dime 12 pennies 1 Mexican coin, 1 earring,3 hair clips and 1 bracelet. Pinpointing is a bit tricky but by the end of the day I was getting the hang of it. Still haven't decided on how to mount it..tried body mount and "s" shaft mount and will try the straight shaft next. Now if I could only get another day off..my weekend just ended. Thanks for looking.

Congrats on your first trip out!

I'm guessing that you have a stainless steel scoop, if not you need to budget a good one as your next need to get acc.I bought mine 9 yrs. ago along with my T/S. The scoop I bought is a long handled one made in Florida, can't remember the makers name though. Most of my good finds have been made in the waist to chest deep water.

The technique of pinpointing in deeper water is to pinpoint in the motion disc.mode on the T/S, by using a slow short wiggle of the coil over the detected target. Once you have the strongest response to the target, stop your coil in that spot to mark your pinpointed target. Then place big toe of your left or right foot, depends on whether you (dig with right or left hand) directly behind the motionless coil, then carefully place the scoop right in front of your big toe after removing the search coil. Step back and dig your target. Hope this helps..............Hombre

Another point of view where to hunt in the fresh water swim holes. I rarely hunt over navel depth. Nothing against it. It's just that my experiences have been that most of the people spend most of their time in water in which they can walk and not swim. There is a 'natural' reason why folks go in the water at least that deep. I find rings in 6" of water. Maybe mom is playing with the little one and it falls off. Don't know. The only time I go any deeper is if there is a swim or diving platform anchored in deeper water. That's a good bet but usually you need air to do that. Try both and see which method pays the best dividends in your type of hunting. Jim
