Tiger Shark headphones

I just got my Tiger Shark back from Rusty, and it's much better now. The depth is good and it GB's nicely. However, I only have sound out of one side of the headphones. I don't really want to send it back since it was mighty nice of them to tune it for free since I bought it used. I can't honestly say it worked right to begin with as I was focused on the other issues.

Anyway, I'm more then willing to spend some dough on a nice set of aftermarket headphones. I see Gray Ghost has waterproof headphones, but no where does it mention which models they fit. There was a post on this subject a while back, but no final conclusion.

Does anyone know of any make and model that works with the TS? Or has anyone tinkered with fixing these phones? I'd be more then willing to give that a try too.

Any advice would be welcome.

Thanks,

Dan

I just received a TS that was recently tuned up as well. The audio is definitely quieter in one ear than the other. Thought I might be going deaf but turned them around with same results. Too quiet for my taste. I haven't tried yet but was hoping that adjusting the volume POT would bring both ears to life. It is a simple adjustment but haven't tried yet. Will follow thread to see where your journey leads. Might be something I would consider in the future as well. Good luck.

Hi Diggler,

Adjusting the volume doesn't restore the sound on the other side for me. I've had it intermittently kick in, so I'm thinking it's a broken wire or connection in the phones themselves. There are only 2 wires feeding the phones, so if there was a problem with a connection on the circuit board, I wouldn't have any sound at all. These phones are glued tight, so it doesn't seem like a DIY fix is possible.

I noticed some guys on the Garrett forum changing out the plugs for their new AT pros with a Radio Shack part. That gives me an idea. Since I will never dive with the TS (chest deep at the most, as I'm not much of a swimmer), I could use good quality phones that aren't waterproof plugged into an adapter. This would never compromise the integrity of the control box but would allow the use of other phones. I'm going to look into this, as the phones seem kind of cheap anyway.

Looks like I'll end up just sending the control box and headphones back in. It's the middle of winter, I have a lot of time to get this TS just right.

Dan

I think that's your best option. The phones on my TS work fine, both sides.

I've been conversing back and forth with Rusty, and he recommended I send it back. That's what I will do. It's this kind of service that will keep me using Tesoro products as long as I'm detecting.

I'm done buying used Tesoros. No, it's not because I had problems with used machines. Tesoro has bent over backwards to make sure I'm a happy customer (even though I've only bought one brand new). From now on, I'm buying new so that I can do my part to support the company. That's how I will show my appreciation and respect for how this company is managed.
