Tiger Shark coils

Hi All,
Can anyone that has had actual "on the ground (water)" experience on a Tiger Shark with the 10.5" coil tell me if it is worth owning and what the benefits may be? I understand ground coverage would be better by 25% but what about depth, pinpointing, and sensitivity? I am kind of hesitant to order one at this point because it will not have the new connection that Tesoro is engineering. And as soon as the new model comes out I will be purchasing one for my daughter. So in essence I will have both the old and the new connectors. But if the coil has relevance to better hunting I will probably purchase one. Thank you in advance!

(Any comments on the smallest coil for this machine would also be appreciated.)

Here in the Northwest (wet side of the Cascades the water season is just begun! Hi Oh Silver!

Kind Regards,
Steve and Toni

You will get 2.5" more coverage as you already know, a little more depth and the sens is right about the same on all the Tiger coils. theres just not a whole lot of difference between the coils. I liked the 8" one the best, its fairly light and gets good depth and coverage.

what state are you in that your water season is just begun in the northwest? and what kind of weather did you just go through the last couple of months?

Thanks,
Neil

also I cant comment on the connectors your talking about, you say they will be new style/older stuff wont work on the newer stuff you mean? I know its been awhile getting the tiger back

Myabe Tesoro should make an adapter that will afford one to use any of the coils on any machine with the correct adapter. Could be a short piece of cable with the proper ends installed. Not rocket science. It'll be a bummer if we all start have to asking, when seeing a coil for sale, if it fits the new connector or the old style. I see that as the first step in designed obsolesence. Not intentional on Tesoro's part, but will have the same effect. jim

TEsoro used to make an adapter for the Tiger that would allow it to use the Umax land coils but I dont think they do that anymore. It wasnt a waterproof deal, but still gave you a lot of extra coil options adding more versatility to the Tiger.

If there are indeed new connectors as Tonisteve says I would guess that means the older style is no longer available so adapters are probably out of the question, because one side would have to be the old style adapter:yikes:

Hi,
You will not have to worry whether it is a 'new' or 'old' style... We are designing the new connector around the current control box connector, no obsolescence:clapping:. The vendor we were getting the connectors from decided to stop making them, so we are making sure that the new connectors are universal (amongst Tiger Sharks).

We are just waiting for the new connectors/coils... very soon. The Tiger Sharks are actually built, just no connectors/coils at this point.

Thanks for everyone's patience who is waiting for the a Tiger Shark, or a Tiger Coil... Anyone who wants to be notified when the new units become available, please let me know. I can call or email anyone who is currently waiting, if your dealer is not already doing this. We are very, very close, but not announcing a date at this point. I will update you as soon as I know something new.

Thanks Casey and 3 cheers for your dealers, especially ones like Gene (Skully) at Badger Detectors in Madison, Wisconsin. With caring dealers like him you can't miss!
