Ticks

I have never gotten a tick on me up here and only saw one but yesterday I was driving down the road and there was one on my arm. A few minutes later I felt something on my neck and pulled one off there too. I could not figure out what the hell was going on as I had not been in any brush. Odd. Last night I took a shower and found another one on my side. I checked closely and there were no more. I almost scalded myself in the shower, hoping that it would get any others and because it just made me feel better about the little bastuds.

I put on clean cloths and headed for the local watering hole and while setting at the bar felt a tickle and there was one on my arm. I don't kwow where the hell they were coming from until someone said it was probably from the forest fire. They might have been sent aloft with the hot air currents, the sky was black with the smoke and as the smoke thinned the ticks would settle on the ground again and I might have gotten some that way.

Is this possilbe??

really possible because the heat of the smoke and hot air current would kill them. I suspect that they might have been carried on the body of animals and deposited in your area. You might have a tick problem for awhile, maybe a long while. I hate those little creepy blood sucking nasty distasteful bugs, and they carry disease to boot. The deer in your area would be the prime suspect for bringing them into your area. Kelley (Texas)

is the cat. We have them and have to keep tick stuff on them... They run around in the brush and what have you and they come in on them.. Are they the big rocky mountain ticks or the small deer ticks... Deer ticks are a major problem here and really messes up people and horses.... I've been lucky but a lot of friends have been layed up in the hospital for months on tick bites.... Like you I get one and I have to sand blast my body in hot water like a pygmy. We check or them constantly.... Roaming chickens keep them down also..... The chickens were like my attack dogs. When ever I found ants, call the chickens over, same with ticks. Had one of those bug lamps up for along time and the as soon as I let the chickens out of the coop, they made a bee line for underneath the bog killer for toasted bugs....

I use a flea-tick repellent on the cat, that kind you put between the shoulder blades once a month but maybe I need to do something more. I gotta check that critter chaser for sure

it had been 20% contained. My friends up here have not been able to see if they even have homes. Bad deal. No danger here yet and I don't expect there to be. I heard it was a mile wide and seven miles long and 5000 acres. Now that doesn't compute in my book:blink: I think it is there way of saying they have no idea what the heck is going on.

Some people are hoping for a burnout because they will be able to move. They can get little for their homes the way prices are but the insurance is suppose to give you replacement cost. That would be more than what they could get out of it. Some will lose everything though and some up here have little to lose but it is all they have.

I had been out by the Cut River doing some Maint on one of my caches and probably got it there. Here is a video I took back there yesterday. That is probably where I got the ticks. If you have the speed, watch it in HD. Did you get my camera working?

No, I can not get it to work. My son is going to try to come by this weekend and see if he can get it to working for me. I suspect that some of the settings on this computer is blocking it for some reason...could be that this computer is too old too. It is ten years old now, been fixed several times, and gives me problems half the time I use it. Kelley (Texas) :)
