Ticks, Ticks & more Ticks!

1.5 hours of digging in the fields of an 1800 farm house and the only thing to show for it were 5 ticks crawling up my legs! But it wasn't a total bust... while I was there the neighbor lady stopped by to see if I had found anything, she is a digger as well. "Nothing", I replied, and then I got an half-hour long history lesson of the surrounding area including the location of an old road that used to run in the valley and the location of an old Hotel that burned down decades ago. We parted ways with the promise of going hunting together when it gets cooler. In my opinion, a good day.

I won't risk getting sick for any old coin. More power to the guys that do. But this is not the time of year for me to be in the brush.

Take an old sock, and put sulphur dust in it. You can get it at a feed store, or some pharmacies. Sulfur powder/dust.

You put it in the sock, put a knot in the sock, and use it as a duster on your pant leg and shoes....even your legs. Ticks and chiggers cant stand it. I have used it since I was a little boy. Works. There ya go.

Dennis, ticked off!

Two interesting facts about my county - Dutchess , yesterday marked the 225th anniversary of the ratification of the U S constitution here in Poughkeepsie, and we ranked the highest in the nation for tick borne illnesses.. Not sure if we still hold that record though.
Unfortunately yesterday morning my parents had to put their dog down due to Lyme disease.

Very interesting. Thanks for the tip.
