Thursday's hunt - Silver again

Went out Thursday for my usual marathon hunt - 12 hours. A bit sore after swinging that 9 1/2" coil!!! It started out slow and then found the 1959 D Silver Roosevelt. I was a bit disappointed. This place rarely has Roosevelt's (except clads). But soon after found the 1905 and 1912D barbers, about 3 feet apart. Ended with the 1927 Mercury. 14 Wheats, some clad and some other nice stuff and ton's of junk. The cut in half plate is probably from an early car or buggy. Wish I had the other piece. Any guesses on the company's name? All in all a good hunt. This month has been great for my silver count. HH

WOW great hunt

Wah I can't keep up with you!!! Those Barbers are real beauties. The silver drought being over is an under statement. Have you ever had much luck at the beaches?

No pain , no gain, that' the way life is. Can't wait to see your next finds. I have'nt done any dry dirt hunting, don't know where to begin. after looking at these awesome finds, will be doing some research.
Nice finds
Happy Hunting

Hi, Never do beaches. I usually do old foundations, and of course this park, which has been giving me Indians and Barbers for over 30 years. If I did beaches I would have to buy a serious under water machine and wade out as far as I could. Scuba diving in shallow water would be OK too. Today I did a foundation. Will post later. HH

The company name on that brass plate may have been "Browning" Just a guess but as soon as I saw it "Browning " came to mind.

Coinnut, are you cheating ? I been hunting hard for 9 years & haven't found a Barber dime yet. I am jinxed on those things, I have seen all kinds of em come up but I can't find one for nothing.
Those are sweet.

I've had the luxury of detecting this location since around 1971ish. It was hugely popular as a park and grove around the turn of the century. I won't tell you how many Indians and Barber dimes I found since you don't believe me anyways:rofl:. I worked it out heavily and was just about done with it when they started to scrape the grassy areas. Bobcat city!!! You should have seen my eyes!!! Now stuff out of reach due to the mineralization was surface to 4" deep. Pulled about 30 or so Indians and the Barbers, Mercs, etc... that I've posted earlier. Situations like this don't come around very often, so when they do you have to grab them. That's why most of my posts have been from the park. But I'm doing the colonial thing again and will only visit the park when I need a change. Colonial hunting yields less finds, but rarer ones sometimes. If you want Barbers, Change your location to where people hung out around 1900 and with persistence you will get them. Good luck and HH.
