Thursdays finds...

Spent about an hour and a half at the first place-got a clad dime and a memorial penny-the trash I was digging gave no indication of anything old here so I moved to a spot that was old and has produced before. I detected about 30 min and dug a barber dime--15 min later another one-- things were lookin up. This spot has given up more barbers than mercurys-hardly ever find and modern coins. The next thing outta the ground was round--but really encrusted couldn't tell what it was.. It was a solid signal not jumpin around right in the middle of the smartfind screen..The last item I dug I thought was possibly a token. After alot of soaking the mystery item --it turns out to be my oldest dog tag yet a 1907 !! This morning I removed it from it's vinegar bath and was rubbing one last spot on it when---------it breaks into three pieces!! I was immediately reminded that about 2 yrs ago -I did the same thing to a token I found --it snapped right in half!! So this is a warning to all out there---that the items we get outta the ground are sometimes very fragile from being buried for so long !! I hope this info is helpful to you guys and gals out there! Be gentle !!! The last item I dug was not a token----it is a russian coin dated 1879--my oldest coin to date and a very unusual find for sure!!Thanks for lookin and listening and good luck out there!! Tony AZ
