Well, went out today to my trusty Wood's Field, and found it to be a soggy mud pit after all this rain...Not bad if your a pig, or a duck, but hell to detect in...Well, trying to stay on the dry land, I only found $0.62, before turning up the pendant...it is not gold, and the rubies are not real...I had been there for about 2 hours, when I was getting discouraged over my lack of finds...Even though I know i have hunted this field to death...I walked back to where I put my bag, and still had the detector on and letting it scan the ground in front of me as I walked...As I neared the fence along the first base line of the ball field, I got a nice crisp clean low tone, followed by the high coin tone...I stopped in my tracks, scanned the area, and got the same repeating series of tones...The tones were strong and consistent, but the ID was jumping from zone 2 (High Iron), to zone 5 (tab/med. ring)...I decided to take the chance and dig, as the depth was consistent at 3"...out pops what looked to be an engagement ring of gold and diamonds (large rocks at that...5 of them...I though I hit the jackpot...I packed up quick and came home to admire my work, when I saw that .925 CHINA stamped into the ring...My heart sank...I then knew that what I had was someones cheap attempt at an engagement ring...10K plated Sterling with glass stones...ARRRRGGGHHHH!!!! WHY WHY WHY can I not find the real McCoy??? The QXT Pro performed admirably in the muck...I on the other hand was a sloppy sight to behold...
