Started out close to home. My yard and some easements. Of note is the pocket watch (my first ever,) an old key, dog tag (1993,) 16 coins.
Moved to a different sled hill than I was hunting over the weekend. About 35 minutes in I found a ring spill. Two rings is a spill I don't care what anybody says. I looked and looked for the woman's finger but it wasn't there. I was super excited. The one with the elephants (I love this ring!) is clearly marked 925 the other is unmarked. I was thinking gold all through the rest of the hunt. Got home and tested it on the old Mizar and it said not gold. The Peridots are real. Have to have the tiny diamonds tested. Rings up solidly on nickel, LOUD. My only hope is that it's less than 10k where my tester stops. It is some type of solid metal and has the letters "NV" impressed in it center top. Oddly same letters appear on the elephant ring too near the size. They are not initials, definitely placed there when it was made. If anybody knows what NV on a piece of jewelry means I would really like to know. Also 101 coins. A few buttons and the usual stuff.
Note: I found more nickels than I did quarters. First time ever for a long hunt. I bumped up the Frequency to max because I read a post by Bear... in Georgia who wrote some time ago that this increases the Operating Frequency of the machine to around 8 MHz and that he does it to improve his chances for gold. Is there any truth to this? Did I read your post correctly Bearkat?
Had a Big Mac, Fries, and a Big Coke and a nap. I only write this to make Uncle Willy squirm.
Went out again until sunset. Back to the site from this past Weekend. Another Woodstock coin. A wheat, 1957 I think. Bullets and a few buttons. Lots of pull tabs. 52 coins.
I make it 169 coins for $13.38 all totaled. I was trying for 200 and just ran out of steam. Great day! Was better when I thought was more sure the ring was gold. It's real purty anyhow! Storms tomorrow and Saturday. That's really why I hit it hard today.
SHOOT! I forgot to say that the 925 silver ring rang up as a penny. My first 925 that rang up below dime. Gotta force myself to dig everything, everytime!
