Thrust into the Etrac family and I like it - - -

I was lucky enough to win a new Etrac at a competition hunt last week. I posted it to sale and then decided that might be a mistake. I put it together and hit one of the older spots that I have pounded for years. People I take care complain there are no signals. Today in about thirty minutes I dug two coins. I picked up an 1884 Indian and a green 1917 Wheat. I was in the coin program with variable tone boosted to 29 and deep recovery enabled. I was hunting mostly by sound and it is a good thing, I can't see the screen. Too much glare, not enough contrast, something keep me from seeing it. I am sure others have fought this. Can anybody share any ideas for boosting my ability to see? Maybe a non-glare cover or a contrast adjustment? I might even play with a partial hood to shade the screen. Please share any tricks you have discovered.

Thanks, Don

Welcome to the brotherhood and congrats on winning the e-trac. You will love the machine as long as you can some time on it. It is a silver finding machine adn the Two Tone ferrous option is just amazing to use. As far as not being able to see the screen, I am with you on that one. It is terrible. I had thought about making some kind of hood extension to see if that helps but have not done so yet. Good luck with your new e-trac.

The ant-glare shields/screen protectors like you use on cell phones and such help a lot.You can get a whole sheet of the material and make several and they keep the screen from being scratched as well. Most big box stores have them for a few bucks

The screen glare is the biggest complaint I have against the E-trac. You would think they could come up with a way to fix that. Maybe by using some high impact, scratch resistant glass so it wouldn't need a protective cover.

Welcome

Good Finds and especially in a pounded area!

The Glare situation continues to be an issue for many of us but screen covers and position changes help

I just want to add that you need to open up the right upper corner to allow Big Silver

Good Luck and HH

congrats on the new etrac It is a great coin machine, I don't have a lot of time to hunt but it has doubled my silver count in the first five months of this year compared to last year. I got it the first of the year it has become my favorite.

Comet Welcome home to the silver getter !!!!!

Running the stock coin program is OK. But to find the deep coins you need to lower the fe line down to at least 27. I have the same problem with glare. Especially with a cover on it.
