LATELY,COMPUTER HAS BEEN DRAGGING AND HANGING UP ON CERTAIN WEB.SITES.I CALLED DELL AND I WAS TOLD THAT THE COMPUTER WAS WORKING FINE AND THAT THE PROBLEM WAS CAUSED BY NOT HAVING ENOUGH MEMORY.NOT SURE IF I UNDERSTAND EVERYTHING.THEY SAID I HAVE A 256 MEMORY ON THIS DELL-B-11O,AND THIS IS CAUSING THE PROBLEM.THEY ADVISE ME I NEEDED 1-2 G.B MORE,THE PERSON I SPOKE SAID IT WOULD RUN $147.90 FOR THE HAREWARE AND THEY COULD WALK ME THROUGH TO INSTALL IT?DOES THIS SOUND RIGHT?OR I COULD HAVE IT INSTALLED.

DOES THIS SOUND RIGHT TO YOU GUYS?

Not sure of the cost. But it is not hard to put in. Open up the box and insert it into a slot. Put it back together and turn it on. However, I am no expert by a long shot. Good Luck

They're talking about RAM or random access memory. If you're using windows XP, they recommend no less than 512 and you have 1/2 of that. Increasing the RAM will speed things up. The price on the upgrade to 1 GB is not too far off. I found one for $132 on line but that's without "support". It's really not difficult to do, more intimidating than anything. I've done it a bunch of times. Just snap in a new memory "board" into the right slot and you're done! Piece of cake. :)

Joes hit the nail on the head. Problably a Gig at least. The only other thing you might try is system restore to a point that your computer was working well. But I would definately go with mor RAM.

Try the crucial website, They specialize in memory. They have a memory calculater on the website to determine what you need. They also have instructions on how to install it. I've ordered from them before with no problem. Its easy to install. If you have a bad memory module in your computer it can cause the symptions you describe. Had it happen to me. Heres the link to their website:

Thats sounds pretty good. I looked up memory on Newegg.com and 512 is around $50, so if they will give you 2 gig for ~150, you are getting a good deal. It is really easy to change...click the old ones out, and snap the new ones in. You just have to make sure they click in good. You dont have to configure anything since they are part of the operating system.
