threshold tone

You should set the threshold setting to were you can just hear a slight hum.Do you use headphones? Then you should set the noise cancellation and then the ground balance and see if this helps. The three things I mentioned is how I start out every time I go out. Hope this helps. Also ck out the FAQ FAQ at the top of this form.
 
The threshold setting does not go into the negative. Not sure what you mean there. My personal experience has been that the 10.5"dd 7.5Khz coil is the deepest seeker for me. A close second is the 9"3Khz. Run the machine in all metal only. I believe that I miss alot in any of the patterns. Dig even iffy signals. This has improved the quality of my finds.
