Threshold tone changes -- do they proportionately change ALL tones?

As a new SE Pro user, I'm trying to set up my machine, and my logic said that I should lower the threshold tone down to 1, to get it as low as possible (and thus as dis-similar to "good" tones as possible). I have a friend that does this, also. However, I read a post here on the classroom where someone said that if you lower the threshold tone, you proportionately lower ALL the machines tones, such that a high silver tone won't be as high with threshold tone set at 1, as it would be with the threshold tone set at, say, 5. However, another poster disagreed with this.

Is there anyone that has a definitive answer on this? I sure don't want to lose any of that nice "high tone warble" I have heard spoken of, through something as seemingly innocent as changing my threshold tone...

Thanks,

Steve

i think all tones are affected try laying out some coins silver included test each for sounds a varing thesholds hear changes for yourself then set to liking the manual says to do this i belive and makes good sence as everones hearing is personal to yourself

I used a DEEP coin to adjust my THRESHOLD TONE. I have mine set to my hearing at 8. Higher than that for me made me lose silver in iron. Andy calls it a set it and leave it setting because it sets the pitch and you set it to whats comfortable to you.

A good way to try it is switch to PITCH HOLD right away you will notice there are some tones you just dont like when you have a low threshold.... its not difference with the threshold tone.
