Threshold question

Hi all,
I've been hunting an area with a lot of EMI, there's a lot more than usual of the pops and noises. My M6 has been great with this area but the other day, in another spot, I was using my MXT in yet another noisy place. I decided to try turning down the threshold and try to mimic the M6. This seemed to work, and without a noticeable loss of depth. I plan on trying this in the original, really noisy place tomorrow.
Am I on to something here? Am I losing much depth? The coins I've found here, in an 1860's era farm house, are nice ones, but not deep; the deepest may have been 5 inches.

You will only lose the deepest targets, those that won't give a VDI reading. These are the ones which just give a threshold increase or whisper. You have to be careful to just barely make the threshold silent. Turning it down too much will lose you depth. I have a couple of sites with bad EMI. I use the relic mode with the trigger in the center position. It runs quieter and allows me to run more gain at these sites. Rob
