Threshold question ...

Will reducing the threshold volume also reduce signal strength? It seems to lower the signal if the threshold is barely audible, but I have read that the threshold tone shoud be barely audible. Is it my imagination and can someone give some answers on this?
Thanks
Jerry

Not that I noticed, except for me to get a barely audible threshold I need to turn down my headphones, and that can make the tones seem not as crisp, so I usually just have the headphones on full with a bit louder than I prefer threshold.. I wish the threshold volume was more adjustable
