Threshold on the 50

The X-50 does not have a Threshold tone. Only the X-70. As to whether it matters or not depends on personal preference. Some folks like "silent search", as standard on the X-30 and X-50. When it beeps, dig it. I even know some who set their Threshold into the silent search range. Personally, I like running with a Threshold as it lets me know that the detector is operating at any specific time. As well, it provides "target blanking" when sweeping over a rejected target in a Pattern mode. And it helps me determine if the settings I have chosen are optimum.

All of the X-Terra user manuals are posted in the FAQFAQ section at the top of this page. You can learn more about specific features, including Threshold and target blanking, in the manuals. HH Randy

If you want or need a threshold tone on your X-Terra, it is going to have to be an X-70. Although each model operates in a similar manner, the additional features offered by the X-50 (over the X-30) and the X-70 (over the X-50 and X-30) make them capable of being very different detectors. Providing a threshold tone on the X-70 is one of those differences. HH Randy

Thanks, the Whites 5000D that I used had THSHLD tone, but maybe it does'nt matter.Last week when I used it the first in like 7 years,I had it set to barely hear it.I just think if I could hear it I could hear the slightest changes, but maybe the 50s are set just under the tone and still very senitive.

Im learnin,I dug up a few pennies yesterday.Got VDI 12 @ 2'' deep, hopin a nickle, but turned out to be a peice of aluminum shim, also a pulltab read 12.Got VDI 42 also but havent dug it yet. There was another VDI 42 I dug and it was a chromeplated U-bolt with something on it kinda like what ya'ld tye off a boat.

I odda just dug up every beep in my back yard just to see what it is.

Now I just need to practice diggin and fillin in,not too good at that yet.
