Threshold in Mode 1 on F70

I have a question regarding the threshold in mode 1. According to the manual it is adjustable in mode 1 and Mode 2 right? I have tried multiple times to turn it up, all the way to 9 with no audio in Mode 1. However in mode 2, it will adjust and I do get threshold audio. Is this correct, or am I doing something incorrectly. Thanks,

Threshold only works on the at mode, not disc mode. In disc mode, the threshold numbers represent a size filter and lowering it into the negatives will eliminate small targets. This is explained on page 13 of the manual.
