Threshold Hum haw do you use it?

I am a new user. The threshold hum blanks when the detector is over a rejected target like it's supposed to. But, and here's my question, what is it supposed to do on an accepted target?

Well i use pitch hold which changes AFTER making the target tone to the target tone. Pitch hold allows me to keep my threshold lower without disappearing. If you are talking about ... coil shutoff every coil does that until recovery.

I think you should hear humBEEPhum, unless it nulls over something next to the target. There may be some recovery after the BEEP before you get the hum again. I run mine barely audible, so I don't really pay attention to it. I'm looking for beeps, not nulls! :) The only time I find myself paying attention to nulls is when I am at a super clean site or area and am getting no signals at all, that's when I notice the null in the threshhold.

So, to answer your question, it has no appreciable effect. If you get a good signal, dig it up and don't worry about the threshhold.
