I was given a tip by one that knows the Explorer II quite well.
Set threshold volume at zero (not audible)
The reason for this is that since the Explorer is a processor driven and not crystal driven detector, the old thought of a barely audible threshold goes out the window. According to this tip, the Explorer will still react to targets, and you will be able to hear anything that the threshold tone could obscure (faintest sounds). I haven't had the time to try this yet due to work, but was wondering if anyone else has tried this, and if it really gives you an extra edge when needed. I would think it might have some merit in iron mask -15 / -16.
