Threshold Adjustment....

Forgive me if this has been covered before. I have been too busy with a side job to keep up on the forum.

I read an article in W&E Treasure magazine where the author talked about adjusting the threshold up to 7 on an XS. He also "dropped fast and deep". He was saying how much difference these two settings made. I have not tried this, but a guy I bought numerous machines from swore that a threshold of 0 worked magic... made the machine deeper.

Does anybody have any experience changing the threshold to achieve better results?? Any reasoning on why the threshold would change anything? I run mine just loud enough to hear the hum.

Thanks and HH - BF

Big Fang i know you used to have an SE, in the manual it talked about AUDIBLE TARGET RESPONSE. Basically, if you set the volume of your threshold to high those deep iffy signals will be filtered out and wont be loud enough to be heard. Set it to low and you wont hear the nulls which may help in setting your sensitivity. One of the guys over on Minelab owners posted something or wrote something recently on using the threshold as an adjustment for your sensitivity as well. I dont know if you have ever read Jeff Fosters book on digging deeper with the DFX or not but he had a great paragraph with pictures showing how threshold affected target response. In fact id recommend his book for anyone using a detector just because it explains a lot of questions asked about most machines.
