Threshhold change?

I use my MXT in relic mode with disc. set between 2 to 3 for 90% of my hunting. I've noticed that with the trigger switch in the middle position the threshhold sounds smooth, but if I decide to flip the trigger into lock position the threshhold gets the usual pulsing/chattering sound. Has anyone else experienced this? It also seems that in the middle position the targets are more clear sounding and I get better ID numbers. If others have noticed this difference, than I would not wonder if it may be time to send the MXT to the doctors office for a checkup.

That is normal for the MXT to have a smoother threshold with the trigger in the center position. I have no idea why but I dont think it requires a check up.
Good luck

I am also a relic hunter and I use my MXT in the relic mode, disc. at 3.5 trigger switch forward to have low or no tone on small iron. I also tune my threshold to just below the hum and no more problems with noise or chatter. I have found no loss of depth tuning this way and it is much easier on the ears.
Hope this helps,
