I am trying the xs out for the first time. I have found two silver rosies and a 1916D barber silver quater, and my first ever, silver rings(2)!I could not figure out why I could not find these things with my radioshack discovery 2000.It found tons of new coins. When I first got the xs I did my yard with the discovery 2000,and found few coins. Then with the xs 10 1/2" coil and found more coins. Then I put on the 7 1/2" xs coil and found more coins.I found that all coins that weren't found was in close to trash.I only discrim. out the pull tabs that I find in the place that I am hunting at the time.Thats how I can find the good things in close to trash.I just wish I could figure out why the different audio sounds.I can only use normal. It says in the book to use audio 1,2,or 3 in high trash areas.Theres no way I can use them cause it sounds off way to much and way before I am over the target. How do you interpret the wailing of the stuck pig, and the sirens. I am so confused! The only coil I use now is the small one which is finding lots of good stuff. The only thing I need to master is the audio sounds and the deep signals, other than that this is a great machine.

Being a new Explorer user just love the flute sounds, have bad hearing but am able to pick up audo tones and differences..Guess what it all comes down to we all have different hearing. Surely
waving targets in front of it on a snowcovered day
will help you to become more proficent, certainly although the field gives you experience, lots of reading and air testing allow you to become proficeient in the aspects of this unit. No free lunch and you have to work at it..
