Three Piece Travel Shaft Question Excall 2

Marxman

New member
For land I swing a Whites MXT. I can swing this for some time but not nonstop all day. Swinging my Excall2 is murder. I can only go for a hour and I am done.I am thinking of going to a straight shaft. I do not know if I want to go with a balanced shaft or chest mount. There is a aftermarket shaft that is a three piece travel shaft that the balance bar is removable. Does anyone use these? Do you have any problem with the shafts getting loose?

Any better set up for a person who swings left and digs right.

Mark

The three piece shaft is awesome. I have one and it is solid. It s very well engineered. The new shaft lock that they use is way better than the twist lock that was used in the past.

I like the three piece as you can use it for a chest mount if you like. Plus it fits in luggage very nicely for travel.

I would highly recommend that three piece shaft.

I like the chest harness. I have said so numerous times in posts. I can hunt all day while wearing it. I had a hip mount that I tried for a while. I tried in front of me ( a little too fat for that one. Plus the finds pouch was always being hidden ). In back of me ( I couldn't reach the controls ) Left side ( banged with scoop ) Right side ( banged with rod ). If you want to switch between pinpoint and discrimination the chest harness works great. Plus the Headphone cord actually gets slack in it instead of pulling all day. I never feel the weight of the detector body. I have an extra straight Sovereign shaft and that is what I mount my coil on. If you mount the excal on a straight shaft do it behind the cuff. A little tuff to reach the controls , but the best way for weight purposes.

Hi Marxman, Check out the Different STRAIGHT SHAFTS offtered by CHUCK at INDIAN NATION Detectors!! He is GREAT to DEAL WITH and is one of

I also use the three piece set up with no FATIGUE.... Balanced out very well. You can get them on ebay for around a hundred bucks... Good Luck

I use the three piece travel custom rod by Plugger. It's the same one that Chuck at Indian Nation sells. It's well balanced and makes the Excal feel very light. Make sure you order the camlock to secure it to your lower rod.

i use all three, well not at the same time, i do have pluggers 3 piece shaft and his hip assy along with pluggers chest mount assy, which is what i use the most,i can go all day without fatigue...

Thanks people. I ordered the three piece shaft today. Am going to weight on the chest mount for now.

You people were right. The three piece balance shaft is amazing. The weight distribution is a big change. It should make it a lot easier to operate. Also the quality of workmanship in this is wonderful. Thanks for your input.

Now if you guys can get the weather here in the PNW to change so I can go out and dig.
