Three of us met at 09:00 am this morning and this is the type of area we hunted. Looks simple enough....but read on.

Here's the other two doing some searching amongst the trees and trails.

Some of the risks we encountered were people doing crack passed out in the woods. You just don't hunt these places by yourself. There are syringes everywhere and wallets & purses lying around that were stolen and pillaged. And burrs everywhere. Gloves are high on the menu around here.

There were good finds too. I got a nice coin spill buy a wallet and an old tobacco tin.

And for "BIG CAT DADDY" a hog t-shirt was lying beside an Aussie bottle of wine. Heck, just a hogs blind luck that I would find it out here. No skills required!

It's always nice to find some older kids toys in the woods. Scott got a real nice car. This older Mustang sure made my day.

We headed home just past noon. I went home to have some lunch and headed out for another hunt at a sports field where I got some more keepers.

Here are the best of the best today. The rings and silver coins were pulled out of a sports field. The rest out of the woods.

Listen John. If you keep finding and digging silver coins I'm never gonna close the gap.

What a sad place our world has become. Reminds me of the village where I live. There are houses that everybody knows are being used to sell drugs. Have been for years. If I know, and my neighbors know, one would logically assume the cops know. Why are they allowed to continue? Is there any police, or mounted police, present in your park? Ever? It sickens me to think about some youngster stumbling out there by mistake.

Chris

PS I've found exactly one Canadian Quarter in my carreer and it was a RCMP quarter. Why did you call attention to it?

Police usually don't go to these areas. They are left for social services to deal with. And.....these people get free syringes, condoms and healthcare. As long as these people are out of sight and not in the built up areas, nobody really seams concerned. I am not passing judgement. I don't really have a good solution. 3% of the population can't work because of mental illnesses, addictions etc. and just can't function in society. It truly is sad.

I love this hobby, and have so for many many years. It's a hobby that just keeps on giving :) (like you said)

Great hunt. It is always good to try different places. You never know what you will find.

When I hunt areas like that in Fl, I usually have a nice lady come by in a really short skirt and ask me if I want to go to her house to get warm. I thank her for her kindness, but I don't need to get warm? It has happened more than once. Sometimes they just prance around me for a while then leave. I think they are too shy to ask. Other times there are these guys on bikes asking me if I want something? I tell them no. Like what would I want? But they keep coming around.

I have experienced that too. I just laugh, shake my head and say NO-THANKS. Once they realize what I am doing, they just move on.

Risky buisness but great finds. Be carefull out there John.
I take my relic shovel with me. It's a great deterrent.....
You da man:starwars:

When I purchased my detector from kellyco I got a nice digging tool called a gator. It has about a 10 inch blade with heavy schraded edges. Since ive had it I feel safer hunting in neighgborhoods like this. It can be a sad world.

Yes......those are good deterrents. I once had a guy approach my buddy and he said he was thinking of robbing him until he saw the knife (lesche) in his hand. That was in a not too nice part of town, and he was probably serious too.......

Yeah when I go to areas like that ( which I rarely do ) I pack an industrial strength size can of pepper spray that shoots a stream 20 feet. It's sad that many of our parks have turned into dope dens.and wino hangouts but such is thecountry we live in now.

Bill

Well thats a different post for sure John. Is sad those people are slaves to drugs like that. Good post though!
