Three items I just got for my 2018 season.

I got a Lesche 18 inch Sampson shovel. My brother has been telling I should use one of these shovels for the last two season's ,his argument its quicker to retrieve targets, easier on the hands, and better for the landscape. Just got a Detech 13'' Ultimate coil for the Sovereign. Had a SEF 10 x12 got rid of it and kept the 1000 Tornado. Tornado 1000 was not getting the performance I got with the SEF coil. Bought a 13" Ultimate coil and will use it this season. This year going wireless, my choice the Garrett Z- Lync, hopefully these will work with my Sovereign never had a pair of headphones as comfortable as my Jolly Rogers and this systems allows me to use these headphones. Looking forward to another season. HH Ron

I used the 13"coil on my Sovereign at the beach. Dug some deep holes. I did notice that if I went from wet sand to dry sand I had to adjust the sensitivity a bit. I also used in on large areas in order to cover more ground faster.

George, I've heard that it's unstable for the beach, glad you can still search with this coil at a beach environment. Most of my local search sites here in MI are decent ground conditions, hopefully the arctic conditions will improve by spring. Thanks for the information.

The 13' Ultimate is wonderful coil for reverse hunting, it is my favorite coil for the Sov GT. You will enjoy using it. Excellent purchase!

Ron...... i wouldnt call it unstable at the beach. Most who do think they can run the same sensitivity as the standard coil..... you cant with any large coil near the oat meal. The closer you get to the water the more the standard coil becomes its equal........ mostly because of stability and reduced sensitivity required. Ok ..ok... i have to ask. You said the SEF was better than the standard..... why did you choose to keep the standard? Not sure you will find the 13 any better than the SEF ....... thats a dang good coil. I really liked the 13 for coverage and great depth on the dry sand.

Dew, I had both coils the 10inch Tornado and the 10x12 SEF.I decided don't need two coils about the same size and got rid of the SEF coil. LOL two seasons later decided that was a mistake. I'm hoping the 13 inch Ultimate can match the SEF performance, if not it will be replaced with a 10x12 SEF. Thanks Ron

Used the 13 when I hunted the wetsand and drysand in OC MD, deepest coil I've ever used on the excalibur. Only problem it's to Hot for the saltwater, goes nuts even when adjusted once she goes under. And I use PP hunting only with the switch to check the targets.

OldBeechnut, in the areas I hunt most of these have been worked to where only the deep and masked finds are left, good to here another user of this coil is impressed with the depth performance. Hopefully on land the 13 inch Ultimate will be more stable. Thanks

I think with your experience and the ULT13 there is going to be some eye openers this year! Good Luck!!
