I planned for this hunt longer than the hunt lasted. And, I was concentrating on Gold and Gold only on this hunt. I had noticed a few days before that a coming low tide was coinciding with highly favorable winds to hopefully yield a really nice super-low tide to hunt. Problem was, super-low tide was at 6pm - dinner time. Long story short: I paid the price (hung mirror, went to 3 stores ssshopping, can't say more...) in order to hunt for 3 hrs at my favorite low-tide beach at dinner time; and it was well worth it, at least for the wife. Funny how she won at both ends.
I planned to work the water line as the tide went out and concentrate on the exposed rocks where winter storms had washed away the sand. I ignored numbers on the CTX 3030 that were higher than 12:30 since my research shows that gold rings seldom fall above a CO of 30. I ignored cents at 12:36-37, dimes at 12:43-44, and even some quarters at 12:45-46. I also ignored pull and push-tabs at 12:15-21 but dug some anyways. Given that I had only 3 hours, I wanted every minute to concentrate on Gold. I concentrated on CTX numbers 12:01-14 and 12:22-34 using my 17" coil for maximum coverage.
Any ways, back to detecting, my strategy paid off!!!

Although I dug a lot of foil, tabs and fishing weights, I snagged this beautiful marked 18k gold band (4.78g, 12:05) in the second hour of my 3 hr hunt. The band is heavily Hallmarked. The problem, however, is that my wife tried it on and it fit, perfectly. She's waiting now until I clean, weigh, photo and catalog the ring so it can return to her finger. And it was going to my NOX800 fund. Another ring sacrificed for The Cause. Happy Hunting. I have to start planning again.

"Whats da best thin ya eva fond?" Asked an older teenage boy, one of two suddenly behind me. "My wife", I replied.
They giggled as the two started to run off together then I said to them "She liked the size of my detector!" "Seventeen Inches!"
I thought both of them was going to have a cow. They fell over laughing sooo hard and the looks on their faces
