threaded parts from backyard buried 6"+

Found these over 6" deep. The one thing with the post and different sets of thread still turns on the threads. Metal must be corrosion resistant or something.
The post remind me of something a spring would catch on. But maybe there were two more pins where the little holes are. The broken pieces made up somewhat of a collar on the one end.

The other thing also has threads and a knurled edge. The hole goes right through. The two things weren't right next to each other. The smaller one looks so familiar for some reason. Reminds me of a reservoir cap for an old style oil lamp but why the hole??

Any guesses????
Thanks,
Ken

The smaller item could be from an oil can.

Yes! I think that may be it. At least that's why it might be familiar to me. I think I have one of those oil cans somewhere. I'll have to compare but it does feel like it would be the same heft and material. Very nice Aaron, thanks,
