Thoughts to ponder on

Amazing hunt yesterday
Noticed on the way home from work yesterday the city had cleared a small area about 15 x 30 and removed from 6

Interesting . My first thoughts would be " I wonder what's still in the dirt they took away and where did they bring this dirt " ?

Markq,

I've had the same experience as you many times. Three four inches of top soil removed at a sight that has been pounded millions of times makes it a whole new ballgame. My theory is that this is mainly due to target masking. I've told people to do this experiment many times over the years. Set a nail on top of a coin and start sweeping as you walk in a circle around it. Only get a good tone from a very specific angle. Getting rid of 40 years of trash over the coins makes all the difference. And yes, sometimes I have followed the dump trucks to where they are taking the soil.

Good post Mark! I sure don't have anything to add, but I really agree with target masking as Chris wrote. Your a real good egg too, to not infringe on your buddies hunt!
