thoughts on the power of intent and focus....

I read a post on the DFX forum regarding hunted out sites and started thinking. My buddy Donny and I have been hunting a piece of woods in CT which has been logged for over 200 years and saw some iron mining too. he found 2 large cents in one hole on a log road we fast-hunted quite a few times on the way to our main sites. We have also found numerous coins in areas we had hit real hard. I like to go back with a different coil, a different seting or just a different frame of mind to those hunted out sites. it's amazing how sometimes you can pull a large cent out of a place you had pounded hard everywhich way. I sometimes think it has more to do with my frame of mind and luck than how slow I'm swinging or how deep my detector is going. it's almost like magic :) I remember hunting with my buddy carl one day.I said "boy I'd sure like to find a King Geoerge Copper." He said well what coin are you picturing in your mind. i said a seated half dollar. He told me to focus on an old copper. i did and 20mins. later I got one. Amazingly he got an 1854 Half a little while later. Sometimes if you concentrate real hard on a certain coin, strange things happen. i have found that if I go out in the woods and am thinking about bills or other worries and not feeling one with my surroundings I often find squat. if i instead focus on feeling where a coin may be or just letting my coil sort of pull me than i do pretty well. you all have probably had it happen. You are out there swinging away keeping in eyesite of your buddy and you get on a path and just keep going all of a sudden you get that awesome signal and dig up a great find and wonder where the heck your buddy is. Well come to find out they were on their own hot trail and are about a quarter mile away with a nice find.Anyway i sure love this hobby.Have a good one.
