Thoughts on the Minelab ProSwing 45

Went out to a remote, hilly area in Sonoma County the other day, to hunt a couple of old homestead sites. Was using the 17" coil on uneven and overgrown ground. After two or three intense hours of sweeping up and down hillsides, my right arm was about to give up. I just ordered Minelab ProSwing 45 harness on Amazon, and was wondering how others out there feel about it.

I think of it as a problem solving a problem. The 17 inch coil is just too darn heavy to swing for very long. Unless you are slapped together like the terminator. But wearing swing assisting devices or bulky things on my body is very annoying. I would rather just swing the stock coil. Summer time will be here befor we know it. I dress light and comfortable. I carry a pinpointer and Sampson digger and trash pouch. Some of these guys I see in videos dress like they are in combat. JMHO.

I've been wanting the 17" coil awhile now and I'm no youngster anymore, hopefully I'll be able to handle it, but after investing that much for the coil, if I need to buy the proswing to make swinging that coil livable then I will. I'm not a big fan of having to wear one but it looks pretty comfortable and with the attachment points it comes with then maybe I'll be able to eliminate a belt with all my tools by using it.

Let us know what you think of it when you get it! GL!

I like mine I am able to put everything on the belt as well as my phone and wireless module on the upper straps so I can hear the phone when it rings even when using head phones it does take a little getting used to if you've never used a harness but you will be able to hunt all day with it, I too am looking for a 17" coil but I can't see spending as much as they want for them new.
hope this helps

I bought that "Yuppy Puppy" large dog harness ($10) on the bay. A guy on the forum recommended that for a cheap alternative. I guess you put it on backwards and rig up your own way to attach to your tector? Haven't tried it yet but got out today for my first hunt and that Etrac is terribly balanced, my arm is killing me after 4hrs so I'll be riggin that thing up to see if it'll work/help...???? If it doesn't work out I'm only out $10.....

it was good to get out tho after 5 long months...dug some clad is all

All I can say about my pro swing 45 is AWESOME! I wouldn't be swinging my 17 inch Ctx coil for 11 hours straight like I did a few days ago without it,it literally makes my Ctx/17x13 feel as light as my Deus/9 inch! No kiddin!

I use one to tame my Garrett ATX. With the harness that 200 lb. Alligator becomes weightless!

The quickly adjustable bungee is especially useful and clever.

I love mine! You can go all day with ease. Plus hang all your stuff off of it with no problems.End of the day, just unbuckle and put in the car.

I rigged up my "yuppy puppy" last night and it'll make a BIG difference out in the field I'm sure. if I find out otherwise I'll let you guys know........

I'm really happy to hear so many love this harness! I'll definitely have to order one when I get my 17 inch coil. Probably wont be until this May though. But I can wait till then! I'll love all of the attachment points on it from the sounds of it, I wont need to carry so much weight on my find pouch belt. I get that thing so loaded down sometimes its hard to keep it up where it belongs , around my waist! I sometimes wind up looking like one of the kids these days with their pants around their knees LOL.

love it but for uneven ground and hillsides it's not worth much.

I found it to be brilliant on hillsides, I could adjust the bungee length "on the fly" by keeping my left hand on the free end of it below the keeper clip, and pulling in or letting out to adjust the length as necessary. Your mileage may vary.

you will be able to put your finds pouch on it also and you wont even notice it weight wise

Sure sounds like it will be worthwhile to me, when I buy the 17"coil this May I will also buy the Proswing. All that I've read here has sold me on it.

I just got mine the other day - tried it at the beach and it worked pretty well - it just needs a few minor adjustments to fit properly. One prob I found is that the opening in my finds bag where I normally have my belt pass thru is way too small for the waist strap on the PS 45. I've been considering a new bag anyway so what do you guys recommend?

Got my harness yesterday and tested it out with the 17" on a hilly SF park today. I can only say it was marvelous, compared to my Sonoma homestead hunt a week ago! Even on uneven and obstacle ridden ground, it was a pleasure to use! I still have to fine tune some of the harness adjustments, but my initial impression is that this was money WELL SPENT! I would not hesitate to recommend it to others. P.S. I only found a bunch of clad, but it was EASY clad. :)
