Thoughts on the 5" Excellerator ?

Ha, I guess I'm promoting for another dealer :yikes: only Kellyco sells them unless you find used of course. They are sponsors here also. I do carry the X-5 sunray which is a heck of a coil!

The big advantage of the smaller coils is their ability to work between trash to find targets larger coils miss due to masking.

The 5" coil is the older version . . . . . as Larry said, the new one is the 6" DD coil which is shown as being on-sale for $110. The one that many find to be a killer coil (it is on my Explorer and E-Trac whenever I hit high trash sites) is the 6x8 SEF coil . . . . a bit more money at $150 but you do cover a bit more than the 6 inch coil and it really works well separating targets.

You will not see a big difference between DD coils in terms of handling mineralization - they all will work well for you.

One other tip - get a spare lower shaft to make it easier to switch coils back and forth

Good to see you back and a sponsor as well!

I just purchased the 4.5 x 7" DD EXcelerator coil. I have not had time to take it out but did test in my coin garden. Seems to have almost equal depth as the stock coil. I have a clad quarter buried at 6 to 7 inches, also have two very rusty nails in the same hole. because the coil is only 4 1/2" wide I can pick the coin out with a strong signal one way but due to the location of the nails I only get a quick churp on the 90 deg sweep. It is enough to stop me to investigate. I plan to take it out this weekend and will post my thoughts then if anyone is interested.
