thoughts on platinum and land ranger pro

Ok now i am not an expert but here goes. My lrp has the 11 dd coil the platinum has the 8" round concentric. Most of my testing was done indoors on a wood floor with some old nails in it or air tests. The depth seems the same on both machines, a quarter at about 10". Both machines id very well and discriminate good also. Both have an auto ground balance, the lrp has an additional manual ground balance. I never really new what recovery speed was, now i do. The platinum is incredible, it can seperate targets 5 inches apart even at a swift swing. The lrp is not even close but seems the same as my tesoro silver u max. The screen on the platinum is large i like it, both have nice screens. The lrp gives much more on screen info and has much more user ajustments and features. They are both affordable and function really well for their price point. In trashy areas the platinum wins. In less trashy areas i like the lrp. Untill i can afford an f75 or a minelab 3030 i dont think there is a better machine for the money than the bounty hunter LRP or the platinum.

Good review.

I love my LRP and QDP. Perfect for my style of hunting. And my F2 with NEL Sharpshooter for a trashy run. All so very light and effective in getting the goodies.:thumbup:

Hightone is right, the Quick Draw Pro is the detector of choice. Believe it or not, it will air depth better than my F75 in the boost mode - no joke...

Hey rob,

I have never had an F75, but heard others say they get 15" on coins. I know that the Quick Draw Pro and Land Ranger Pro both test more depth than my F5 (that I sold you) and my F2. I have no complaints about the depth of these two BH Pros. As a matter of fact, on another forum, a buddy of mine made a air test chart of the LRP complete with depths and VDIs. 81/2" to 10" on most coins.

These two detectors fills a void of having excellent depth, abilities and options in a cost effective platform. I place the F75 as a professional detector for people who detect professionally. The LRP, though built lighter due to the plastics, offers much of the same abilities as the F75, giving "high" intermediate or first time hunters the same features at 1/3 the cost.

Here is said air test results for anyone who wants them.
First the depth all in inches sorry my metric friends. These air air tests.
Then VDI flat (o) and on edge (l)
Ok US clad first.

50C = 7 1\2
VDI = 90 o
+90- l

25C = 7
VDI = 79 o
+81- I

10C = 6
VDI = 67o
+68- I

5C = 7
VDI = 35o
+39_ I

Zink = 7
VDI = 55o
+55-

Ok US silver and copper pennies
Again in inches, and air tests.

Walking = 6 1/2 (seems to low)
VDI = 90 o
93 I

25C = 6 1/2
VDI = 85 o
89 I

Rosie = 6 1/2
VDI = 73 o
75 I

Merc = 6 1/2
VDI = 71 o
72 I

War 5C = 5 1/2
No VDI at this time.

Wheaty = 7
VDI = 67 o
+70- I

Copper 1C = 7
VDI = 68 o
+69- I

Now keep in mind this is at 7 sensitivity in coin mode at a higher sensitivity and in all metal most of these numbers were 2 inches greater.

Yeah. At 10 sensitivity most coins came in at 8 1/2 to 9 1/2 on disc 2,3,4. AM gave an inch more for me. I like the AM being VCO as well. C mode seemed a little less depth than 2,3,4 modes also.

The impressive depth of the Quick Draw Pro is also surprising. The Fisher F2 places second to it's depth and bang for buck status, IMO.
