It's a Saxon stirrup mount, and is around 900 to 1000 years old. Found on a ploughed field at about 4" with the Hawkeye (Deleon to you guys!). It's just over 2" long, and these things don't turn up too often. Not particularly valuable, but a welcome find anytime <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)"> HH to ya'll charlie.
 
Anything found that old is a welcome site. That stirrup mount probably saw a few battles ?? Thanks for the photo and more luck to you...Al
