Pulled this not-too-shabby 1773 KGIII last week at a spur of the moment door knock I hadn't planned on making. I only had about 20 minutes of usable light when I got there, so I will be going back this week. Apparently the yard has been hit before, and I've always been too chicken to stop before because the house and property are probably worth more than my life if I were to screw up their yard so I just assumed they'd say no. The ground was rock hard, and I was getting the signal mixed with iron at about 8" but it kept jumping to a foot. I got down about 6" but didn't think it was really going to be anything worth the pain in the butt it was to dig so I covered it up and went looking for something else. Something made me come back and try at it again though a few minutes later and I'm glad I did!
