I was to have an operation on my back this past Friday but the the Doc found a clogged artery in my heart during a stress test no big deal :nopity: , a quick fix (I HOPE) then on to the the back surgery but in the mean time I went out to the beach and got this. This is Cartier 18K wedding band (BLOW IT UP I HAVE A GREAT CAMERA) with its own serial # engraved in it and its worth some bucks. I will hunt down the owner by calling Cartier in New York and see if they can help me. I hope I can find the owner, that's always a great payoff for me. wish me luck.:beers:

Well I called the Short Hills mall in north Jersey where they sell them and they said" they will contact them and that's great but I either have to drive about 200 miles round trip to bring it to Cartier or I can mail it to them but I would have to insure it. I told them I would give them the Serial # and you can have them (the owner) call me and they said" we can't do that. Really? I guess no good dead goes unpunished

Oh yeah It makes you wonder if they will contact the owner........That doesn't sound right to me.....I would hold off and look for other methods like local newspaper ads....Usually found items can be published free of charge or you could insist on talking with a manager....They want you to fork out your money to send it back and you just want to find the owner?.........Caution Flag!

can you call Cartier directly and see what they would be able to do??? if that doesnt workout just keep it!!!!!!!!!!

An excellent find my friend. I agree with seeker, call directly to Cartier if they give you the proverbial "I'm sorry sir but...", I'd say keep it.

Aloha

Yea I called NY directly and they were no help either. I just feel uncomfortable with this, I may end up putting it into my FINDS cup
Thanks guys

Or wear it!!! Congrats!

nice find.. your heart is in the right place but if its stressing you out thats no good either... just remember when it comes to returning rings you are only responsable for the effort and not the result.... if you made an honest effort to find the owner but cant , maybe it just wasnt meant to be.. im going thru the same thing with a class ring.... i still trying to track down owner, but if i cant i will keep it with a clear conscience.... best wishes ..

Cartier can not find owner with serial number. I have found several and verified that they can not and will not identify owners and if you leave it with them they still can not return to owner. They will just keep it.

Well after all the comments, I am going to hang on to it. I have returned many items to people IE rings, phones and so on but it's not always possible so Thanks for your help and advice all, it's greatly appreciated

Hey, Bill, I found one a few years back and contacted Cartier. I was told that they don't keep the serial number info, at least not for long, so the head of security called me and told me there was nothing they could do. He told me it was "finders keepers". I found it strange that a company like Cartier would sell expensive jewelry with serial numbers and not keep track of them. Anyway, you've done all you can so it's yours, my friend. Nice find. --Jerry

I put it on eBay and it has passed my min amount I asked for. Too many hoops to jump through to get it back to the owner. if I couldn't put it in the owners hand its history
