I have had X-Terras that I had traded on...never kept one to try out...I got a nice X-70 this week on a DFX trade and I think
I'll give it a try.... hunt some coins to start out with and then later on try it on CW sites...... Seems very simple and I think it will be fun to try out....
Best to all, Richard

Hey Richard welcome to the site! The X-70 is simple to use, but also has some sweet options. Be sure to check out the faqfaq at the top of the page.

Heck you being a dealer you probably know this stuff. Any how good luck with the 70, Beale.

The 70 is a great all round machine with good options to tinker with. I can't believe it has taken you this long to try one out. Best of luck!
Cheers!

date has been the Quattro.....super machine.....hope the 70 does as well...I totally agree, the major part (not all) of the performace of a machine is in the operator. Best to all, Richard

I never used one, but it has to be one of the most maligned Minelab ever produced. I hear for saltwater beach hunting they are well liked by some. But I've seen mostly negative comments overall, maybe unfulfilled expectations. So what are the positives that make you like it?

agree with you to a certain degree..The Quattro has a few quirks but it will produce if you slow your swing down some and let it "do it's thing." On the beach, as you said, is why I mainly like it...
FWIW, I think it runs better in wet sand than any land detector I have ever used to this point and the depth is incredible... I have got coins in the surf and surf's edge that were corroded to the point of not being recognizable. Everybody else had missed them....Best to all, Richard

Richard...the X-70 is simple, light, stable and deep. I thought is was kind of cheap looking out of the box, but after a season of woods, brush, rain and mud, it held up quite well. No negatives on this machine. And the DFX you traded it for was probably mine. That's why I didn't use it after getting the X-70. Ron

Richard,

From everything I have read about the Quattro it seems ML should have waterproofed it instead of updating the Excal.

Well i had the quattro from the first day it was released. On the beach it was a good detector but the worst things about it is its recovery speed, to heavy as the same as the explorer, not very reliable in indefincation of targets and you just have to sweep it as slow as a snail. I had mine 3 years and although i new all its good and bad points it just cant live with 70 and to me it has to be the best all round detector i have used in 28 years of beeping.
