Thought I found an Indian head - - - 1863

I finally got permission to hunt a bean field that I knew had an old homestead site. I had a really hard time finding where the house stood, but eventually got into the area. Home site was way off of the road. Once I got close I found this token almost immediately. I remember the vdi read really high and I was surprised to see an Indian head penny. I rubbed it off and did a double take on this one. Flipped it over and was pleased to see an advertisement for a clothier in Indianapolis, IN. The token rang in high and does have a hole punched through it. I didn't find any coins today, but I did find more flat buttons than I have ever found. Nothing fancy, just one piece flat buttons of different sizes. Token was about seven inches deep and rang out loud and clear. I hope to get back out tomorrow, this place has to have a few coins waiting.

Thanks guys, for the information. I knew that it was a cool thing when I found it. So far, it is the only dated thing to come from this homestead. I have dug more metal buttons here than any other place though. I plan to keep hitting it, there has to be some coins hiding out in all of this iron.

Thanks, guys for helping me get a little better idea about my token. I knew it was cool when I found it, but your input really helps me see what it was and who it represented.
