Those darn "_____

OK...I accidently prematurely posted (somehow?) before finishing the last post!

Anyway...I keep getting fooled by flattened screwcaps. I think its just "gonna happen" and that there's no way to avoid them.

So maybe you can share "what fools you"...be it screw caps, pull tabs, deep cans, whatever....

Alot of things... :) Seriously, you have to dig the trash to get the goodies.

Man those flattened ones look exactly like a coin to all target ID machines. There may be no way around 'em, but sometimes when I get something like that outta the ground I look at it like, hey I helped clean out the area to find something better :detecting:

Just listen my friend..There are whole caps, bent caps, flattened caps just to test us...Listen carefully and you will find they(flattened ones) just cover a bigger area than a coin..No sure bet, but one can eliminate some and cut down the odds...No one ever said it would be easy and indeed its not...
Now lets get into tabs versus gold rings for a real discussion...

Man, those things drive me nuts! They sound exactly like a deep, older nickel on my CZ-5. What's worse, in the few areas I have that are really infested with those things, I've recovered many older nickels as well. I HAVE to dig those things, if I want to get a nickel. I can usually call them for what they are before I dig them, but sometimes I get surprised and actually recover a nickel.

I was just out hunting an old homestead site in the woods and found three complete hunting arrows. Well, the feathers were barely hanging on.

One was an aluminum shaft and the other two were matched graphite shaft. The arrow heads were still razor sharp too.

Also found quite a few brass cartridge shells. Mostly 30-30. Old orchard near the homestead. Modern deer hunters, don'cha know.:bouncy:

I try to keep my headphones on & don't look up like I never heard them when I hear stuff like that :chase:

at least you're using a cz. on the 1270 and most other brands all aluminum will fool you. great machine.

I once had an old lady approach me while I was detecting and wanted to know where she could get one.She said that I had the quietess weed eater and wanted one just like it.

Simply learn a short sentence such as I hope your having a nice day in a foreign language..try German as its Guttural....They usually mind their own business and continue on their way..
