I've been hunting the old Catholic seminary for months and never found any religious items. This has been my lucky week with finding 2 nice silver religious pieces. The round piece has Pope Pius XI and dates from the 20's or 30's probably. I'm not sure how old the other one is, but it sure looks old to me

good archeology you have proved the riligiouse nature of the site i dug an old dump on a seminary it was full of wine bottles probly for comunion ,as a congrigation would go thru lots of wine if serving comunion and i found some intact stoneware jugs keep hunting that one and keep us posted

If i would have got to this place when they first started digging up the back area, i could have scored more relics and some nice bottles. That bulldozed dirt is covered with old bottle pieces

John,

Whats the date on the wheatie? That may give a clue as to how old the religous medals are. Pope Pius XI was the Pope from 1922 to 1939, when he died at age 81.

Pete

It's nice seeing someone getting out and hunting. Great finds John!!!

Where in MO do you live? I've got relation down near Mountain Grove and they've been wanting us to come down there with our detectors. But it's too hot to do so now.
