This Week's Mini-Hunts

In addition to several Wheaties and clad, here are the best from a series of "mini-hunts" this week (mini-hunt = 1/2 - 1 hour after work or spur of the moment quickie). The 1943 Merc and Indian Heat were from and abandoned house in a nice suburban neighborhood; must go back soon. The 5"x8" coil worked wonders when finding the IH next to the house and iron grunting non-stop. The 1916 Merc was a 1/2 hour quick hunt adjacent to a church building and the Buffalo nickel was another quick 1/2 hour this morning after going to the grocery store. When using the 5"x8" coil in trashy areas, go very low and very slow; it picks 'em right out.

Nice finds, AJ. I love those mercury dimes and IH pennies. I hope the 1916 mercury dime was D mint mark. I wanted to order the 5 X 8 and the sniper coil for my at/pro this month, but ran out of money. There is a spot I really want to try with these smaller coils. One is near a sea wall they built around this swim park and the other is a real trashy site near this old house. Both of these areas frustrated me using the GTI-2500 and the sniper coil because of the amount of trash. The way the at/pro sounds in pro mode will pick out the coins and elimanate digging too much trash.

That's good effective detecting. Congrats!

The 5"x8" coil really helps in those trashy areas, but, and I learned this the hard way, one must sweep slowly and really concentrate. It's a lot of fun! Hopefully you can get one soon. Got mine off of eBay since everyone else had serious backorders. I always try with Bart first.
