This week's finds

Mark in S.E. IA

New member
This past week I hit a sidewalk tear out and the 2 day's I hit it I found a Shield Nickel with a date, 1874,, a Rosie, a IH and 3 wheat's. I didn't find alot but the shield nickel was a prize find for me.

Thur I got permission to MD a Demo lot and I was going to wait until he was all done cleaning up the place but I didn't have any place to MD Sat so I went there.
This place is a mess, their still is a huge dumpster in the front yard and pieces of metal everywhere. This place would of been a bust if it wasn't for the 1908d Barber dime I found there.
I also found 3 wheat's, a soap token " I've found several of those over the years" and a Skating Rink tag. I did a google search and found nothing so if anybody knows anything about it please let me know.

the shield cleaned up real good.....!!!! WTG on sniffing out the fresh turned up dirt!!!!!

Congrats on the Shield Nickel! Those don't come up often. That Barber Dime is in beautiful condition. Way to go!

Congratulations on the finds! Thanks for the pictures.

Congrats on the great finds !

I found the same Palmolive Soap token a few years ago - I've seen half a dozen or so posted in the forums since I found mine - they really look nice cleaned up !

nice week Mark great finds

Great finds and in great condition too! Really like the tag. Reminds me of coat check tags I've found. Bet it's got some value to the right collector.

Nice finds, especially like that Shield. I've yet to find one.

Those tags are great finds too. Never know what research will turn up.
A few years ago, I found an old brass luggage RR tag at a long gone 1800s RR depot site. Researched it and that tag came from an old RR company that had one of the worst passenger RR accidents in the country. That accident happened sometime in the 1800s with hundreds of casualties.
If i hadn't reasearched it, I would of never known the history that tag could tell.

Thanks guys,

I've done some research on the tag and have come up with nothing. I sure would like to know something about it.
