Went to a new lake on Saturday with a friend and found 2 merc dimes. Then we went to one we hunt yearly and I came up with 2 more rings marked sterling. They have definately been in the water a long time.

Anyway Sunday I hit a lake I hit only once before. Just new clad even in diving water. I was really suprized. I thought out deep I might be able to scrounge up one ring or 2. Anyway I did get a new lead for this weekend coming up. BUT

Another VERY sour note. 2 of my tanks didn't pass the visual plus inspection yesterday. I now only have 5 tanks left plus the hookah. But out of those 5 3 still need to be checked. They were all made before 1980 and so I was told not to count on them passing. This really stinks. At least I bought a hookah this winter. Hopefully I will be able to count on it all summer.
 
someday but right now I'm hookah/Excal II poor! But someday...I'd like to get a couple of aluminum tanks.

Concerning the lake that didn't produce. I always ask the ranger staff how long it has been since their last draw-down...and if the diving area is exposed. That speaks volumes. You know the dry sanders will descend upon it as soon as it allows them to walk on the lake bottom without bogging up to their azzes.

Where you found the mercs would perk my interest mate. There has got to be a bunch more loot there. If those mercs were looked over, you can BET your bippy there are some rings there as well. Keep at it. You're gonna do well once the summer breaks.

Thanks Gulf Hunter, Arkie. Yes where I found those mercs will have a lot more. It is a private beach and I was given permission to go in. Lots of things in the lake. I took out a lead window weight, a barbell, a camera and a bunch of sailing items. This lake has a private sailing club on it and that is where I was hitting. All sand and it has a huge sandbar that I wasn't able to get to. Yes it is a promising lake, Visibality around 10'. I will be back!
